With 50 AMP service, pull-through sites and a mix of wooded and open sites available, we are able to accommodate the largest and most modern RVs, as well as tents, pop-up campers and everything in between.
If considering camping in Connecticut, why not stay at the campground that has received the highest ratings from Woodall’s (5 stars for facilities and recreation–the only CT campground to achieve this honor for each of the past 3 years), Wheeler’s RV Guide and Frommer’s, which states “This top-notch, highly rated campground…is a true vacation destination, with all the amenities and activities of a bustling resort. You name it and they have it at this action-packed, family-friendly campground…and it just keeps getting better. Who said camping was roughing it? Not at this super-deluxe resort.”

Want romance this weekend? President’s Day Weekend features two of the biggest RV and Camping Shows in the Northeast, with Springfield, MA hosting their annual event at the Big E and Suffern, NY having a show at Rockland Community College. Strawberry Park will have a booth at each show, so stop by and say hello. If you come on Sunday and have forgotten to pick up a gift for Valentine’s Day, nothing beats a complimentary strawberry candy. Also this weekend, GoRVing.com will be unveiling some new ads during the Olympics and Daytona 500 that emphasize the value and savings of camping vs airfare, hotels and other vacation options.
Boston-based group “Della Mae” has been added to our annual Strawberry Park Bluegrass Festival (June 3-6), and is slated to appear on the Folk Stage on Saturday, June 5. Della Mae consists of 5 young ladies (Laura Cortese, Kimber Ludiker, Amanda Kowalski, Avril Smith, & Grace Van’t Hof) with strong musical backgrounds. We look forward to having them join the likes of Red Molly, Tracy Grammar, Vance Gilbert, The Kennedys and Dala on our Folk Stage.
With the departure of the CT Defenders (formerly the Norwich Navigators), it appeared minor league baseball might not inhabit nearby Norwich in 2010. However, the NY/Penn short-season rookie league has announced the relocation of the Detroit Tigers franchise from Oneonta NY to Norwich. Unlike the former AA league (first a Yankee farm team, recently an affiliate of the SF Giants), whose season began in April, the rookie league starts in June, with many players who were just drafted. Both the Red Sox (Lowell, MA) and the Yankees (Staten Island) have teams in this league, as well as the Brooklyn Cyclones. Due to this late move, the team will retain the name “Tigers” for 2010, but will likely seek a new name for 2011. The former Norwich team headed for Richmond, VA and was renamed the “Flying Squirrels”, with much greater appeal to the youthful fan base than “the Defenders” could muster. With that in mind, the early push is on for “The Norwich Narwhals.” It retains the Norwich name, the connection to the Defenders (the USS Narwhal was a submarine built in Groton in the late 60’s), and just imagine the hats!
