Employment Opportunities at Strawberry Park

Strawberry Park is always looking for quality employees. During our peak season, our staff numbers close to 100 persons, most of which are “summer jobs”, with full-time hours in July and August, with predominantly weekend work in the spring and fall. The majority of our staff is local, and we do not provide on-site housing for workers. Some entry-level jobs are open for those at least 16 years of age, while other positions require a greater level of experience. On rare occasions, long-term campers or their children of legal working age find summer jobs during their stay. However, any camper under 21 years of age may not stay at the Park without a parent present.

Summer Jobs

Strawberry Park Resort Campground in Preston, CT is seeking reliable, personable individuals to fill a variety of positions. NOTE: The majority of positions are seasonal. Full-time hours may be available during the summer, and part-time hours may be available in the spring and fall, but this is not guaranteed. Due to the nature of the business, we generally cannot guarantee a minimum number of work hours, nor can we guarantee year-round employment. The majority of our positions require flexible hours, including nights and weekends. Per CT State Statutes, we are unable to hire 14 & 15 year olds for any position. Some jobs are available for 16 & 17 year olds, who may be subject to a training wage per CT State Statutes. Most jobs are for those 18 years of age, and many require a valid driver’s license. CASHIERS:
Cashier/store assistant, customer service, at our busy camp store! We carry a wide variety of foods, camping supplies, and souvenirs. Help our campers find what they need, and check them out in a friendly and efficient manner. Previous cashier experience helpful but is not necessary. Part-time available beginning weekends in April. Part-time to full-time available mid-June through Labor Day. Some weekend hours available through October. Age 16 or over.

SECURITY/GUEST RELATIONS:
Provide educational assistance to campers so that they have a clear understanding of the Park’s rules and regulations. Enforce rules and regulations as needed, especially quiet hours and curfews. Assist with conflict resolution. Considerable walking involved, while a bicycle may also be utilized to ensure that all campers are abiding by our rules and being respectful of others. Assist campers in locating their site, and with front gate traffic control. Assist with the supervision of our younger employees as needed. Responsible for escorting emergency personnel to the location at which they are needed. Age 21 or over. Must posses a valid driver’s license due to occasional use of an electric golf cart. Position subject to background check. Part-time available beginning weekends in April. Part-time to full-time available mid-June through Labor Day. Some weekend hours available through October. Considerable weekend hours, and mostly night shifts.

RECREATION ASSISTANTS:
Coordinate, supervise, and participate in a variety of scheduled daily games and sports activities for adults and children (softball, soccer, tug-of-war, egg-toss, diving competitions, tee-shirt tie-dyeing, and many more!) Previous experience/participation with sports helpful but not necessary. Must be outgoing and energetic, enjoy working with children and adults, and be willing to work out doors in a variety of weather conditions. This position requires that you be on your feet and very active for most of your shift. Applicants must be age 18 or older. Part-time available in May, full-time or part-time available approximately mid-June through Labor Day; some weekend hours in the Fall. Considerable weekend hours.

POOL ATTENDANTS:
Assist our campers in the proper use of the pool area by making sure they follow the pool rules so that everyone has a safe and enjoyable time! Responsibilities include: enforcement of pool rules, basic pool maintenance, maintain cleanliness and organization of pool decks and surrounding areas. Ages 18+. Life-guard certification not required. Applicants must be able to be on their feet and moving around for the majority of their shift, and be able to tolerate being outdoors in hot, humid conditions. Part-time available in May, full-time or part-time available approximately mid-June through Labor Day; some weekend hours in the Fall. Considerable weekend and evening hours.

ARCADE & RECREATION CENTER ATTENDANTS:
Our arcade and adult recreation center have a variety of activities and games for teenagers and adults. Responsibilities include enforcing rules, managing game/equipment rentals, cash handling procedures, maintaining cleanliness of facilities. Must be comfortable handling cash. Will be required to prepare a written log of transactions at the end of your shift. Part-time available May through October with possible full time mid-June through Labor Day.

GROUNDS MAINTENANCE:
General grounds, building, and RV Maintenance. Responsibilities include: troubleshooting and repair of minor RV problems (ie. faucets, blinds, etc), daily trash pick-up at all campsites, leaf clean-up, mowing & trimming, light construction duties, septic pump-outs. General mechanical ability helpful. Must be willing/able to work outside in a variety of weather conditions, and be available for rotating day, evening, and weekends, and holidays. Age 18+. Must posses a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation. Position subject to background check. Immediate hours available for leaf work & lawn care. Seasonal positions.

CLEAN-TEAM:
If you take pride in cleanliness, we need you! Our rental RVs, recreational center, camp store, bathroom facilities, and grounds need your dedicated touch! We want our campers to experience the cleanest facilities possible! Become a member of our Clean Team today! Must be age 21 or over and possess a valid driver’s license. Position subject to background check. Part-time to full-time hours available mid-April through the end of October.

HORSEBACK TRAIL-GUIDES:
If you are experienced around horses, age 18 or over, possess a valid driver’s license, and enjoy working with the public, this is the summer job for you! We offer a daily trail ride program for our guests. We own our horses. Responsibilities include: preparing our horses for their daily rides; ensuring that our campers understand the basic rules of safe riding prior to leading them on their 30min. trail ride, escorting young children around our large ring for the “pony” ride segment of our program, making sure our horses are properly fed and watered throughout the day. Also responsible for basic grooming and tack maintenance. Weekend hours available in April & May, with approximately 40 hours a week June through Labor Day, including weekends, with weekends thereafter through October. Position subject to background check.

FRONT GATE ATTENDANTS:
We need personable, energetic individuals, age 21 and over for our busy front entrance gate position! Responsibilities include: checking in arriving campers and ensuring that all paperwork is in order and all fees are paid. Directing campers to their sites, and to area attractions and services. Ensuring that each vehicle entering the Park has valid campsite identification or has a valid business reason for entering the Park. Will also be responsible for maintaining cleanliness of the entrance area. This position requires the ability to be on your feet and moving around for most of your shift, as well as tolerance to working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Weekend hours starting in May, with part-time and full-time hours June through Labor Day, weekends thereafter through October. Position subject to background check.

RESERVATION CLERKS:
We need personable, energetic individuals, age 18 and over for our busy and exciting front desk reservations position. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: taking reservations, answering camper inquiries, attending to the telephones, and entering transactions into the cash registers/credit card machines. Basic computer skills helpful, and customer service ability required. This position requires the ability to be on your feet and moving around for most of your shift. Weekend hours starting in mid-April, with part-time and full-time hours June through Labor Day, weekends thereafter through October. Position subject to background check.
