“Earl-y” Arrival Special

by David on August 31, 2010

Many campers have inquired about bringing their RV in on Thursday for the upcoming Labor Day Weekend, with the possibility of some rough weather on Friday.  We invite you to drop your RV off on Thursday at no additional fee, and if your site is open, it can be placed on site.  If your site is occupied until Friday, you may put the RV in storage for a night.  If you are able to camp with us on Thursday night, we have a bonfire at 8PM, and this week features a discounted mid-week rate.  For those concerned about Hurricane Earl, we suggest that you wait and see.  If there are any hurricane warnings, hurricane watches or tropical storm warnings issued by the National Weather Service for either our area (Preston is in northern New London County), or for your hometown area, and you don’t wish to travel on Friday (or if you are taking the ferry and service is cancelled), we will offer the following options (noting that the weather looks pretty good for the rest of the weekend):  A:  You can choose to arrive early on Saturday, as many folks often due on holiday weekends, and your full reservation will be held for you.  B: If you elect to wait to travel and wait until after 2pm Saturday to arrive, we will issue you a future camping credit for Friday night.  C: If you choose to cancel the entire weekend, we will issue a future camping credit for the weekend minus a $20 fee.  Again, this is based on the weather warnings noted above–not for peripheral rains and winds on Friday that may accompany a storm out to sea.  There is no need to make any quick decision, as any cancel made early (prior to any potential warnings issued by the weather service) would be subject to the published cancel policy.  In addition, please note that if you do cancel early, and later change your mind looking to come, there is a chance that your site location may be changed or no longer available.  Best bet is to wait until Friday morning, and base your decision on the latest information available.  We don’t want folks to travel in unsafe conditions, but we do hope to see everyone at Bingo on Friday night at 8:30PM.
